Recap: Morton Potters vs. Champaign Central Maroons

Even though the Champaign Central Maroons scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the Morton Potters still came out on top. Morton came out on top in a nail-biter against Champaign Central and snuck past 61-58. Given Morton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Champaign Central is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Champaign Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Torion Rhone. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rhone set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. Another player making a difference was Aidyn Beck, who scored 12 points.

Morton's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Champaign Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Morton and Pekin will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Champaign Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m. Tolono Unity will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
