Basketball Recap: Parker Volk Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Centura

Doniphan-Trumbull won the last time they faced Centura and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals strolled past the Centura Centurions with points to spare, taking the game 50-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Doniphan-Trumbull's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Parker Volk led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Volk has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Poppe, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Doniphan-Trumbull smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Centura's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barrett Fries, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. Zavery Jensen was another key player, putting up four points.

Doniphan-Trumbull's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Centura, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-11 record.

Doniphan-Trumbull has already played their next matchup, a 60-51 victory against Fillmore Central on the 27th. Centura does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
