Saugus and Winthrop are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2019, but not for long. The Sachems will challenge the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Saugus is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Saugus came up short against Stoneham on Monday, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Winthrop came into Monday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Gloucester by a score of 3-1 on Monday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 16-25, 25-15.

Winthrop's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Saugus, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Saugus' way against Winthrop when the teams last played back in September, as Saugus made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sachems since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
