Softball Recap: Saegertown Takes a Loss

Saegertown had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-5 to make it four. They lost 23-13 to the Moniteau Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 3rd.

Mackenzie Brauen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Leah McGill also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Moniteau, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games.

On Moniteau's side, the team relied heavily on Lily Staab, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Thompson, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Saegertown will challenge Reynolds at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Moniteau, they will welcome Karns City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gremlins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
