Basketball Game Preview: Byron Bears vs. Stewartville Tigers

The Byron Bears will challenge the Stewartville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Byron knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Stewartville likes a good challenge.

Byron is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They took down Northfield 58-42. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Raiders are ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Stewartville posted their closest win since March 13, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past Red Wing 52-50. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wingers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Stewartville's win came from a few key players Byron will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Audrey Shindelar, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Her big performance that evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Jayci Rath was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds.

Byron's record is now 25-3. As for Stewartville, their record now sits at 20-8.

Byron beat Stewartville 68-55 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Stewartville's Danika Shindelar, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 19 points.
