Basketball Recap: Chambers Takes a Loss

Chambers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 51-29 to the Lakewood Gators. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 396th in North Carolina, while the Gators are ranked 93rd in South Carolina).

Lakewood found their leader in freshman Lauryn Nesmith, who posted 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nesmith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiya Hodge, who put up 11 points.

Chambers' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lakewood, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chambers will host Harding University at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Lakewood, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Florence at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
