Football Recap: Rosary Academy Royals vs. Irvine Vaqueros
Rosary Academy entered their tilt with Irvine on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Irvine Vaqueros at home to the tune of 35-6. Considering the Royals have won ten games by more than 20 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Contreras was her usual excellent self, throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Kelly, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Rosary Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sophie Lickl, Leanna Gimenez, and Hayden Huerta picked up one apiece. Rosary Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Irvine, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rosary Academy will venture away from home to challenge Northwood at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Rosary Academy: 14, Northwood: 13.4) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Irvine, they will head out to square off against Laguna Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
