Softball Recap: Lower Moreland Wins Going Away Against Collegium Charter

Lower Moreland came out on top against Collegium Charter on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Cougar. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Izzy O'Brien was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. O'Brien was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elimarie DeJesus was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Olivia Fey also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Lower Moreland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.

Lower Moreland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Collegium Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Moreland will venture away from home to challenge New Hope-Solebury at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. New Hope-Solebury's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Lower Moreland's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Collegium Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Bristol at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
