Preview: Bartlett Panthers vs. Germantown Red Devils
The Bartlett Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Germantown Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Bartlett sitting on three straight wins and Germantown on 11.
Bartlett had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed by Rossview on the road to the tune of 48-16. Given Bartlett's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Rossview is ranked 131st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Geron Johnson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played.
Meanwhile, Germantown never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 47-0 victory over West Creek at home. The result was nothing new for Germantown, who have now won seven contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Bartlett's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Germantown, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Bartlett suffered a grim 44-20 defeat to Germantown in their previous matchup back in October. Can Bartlett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
