Preview: Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels vs. Patrick Henry Academy Patriots
Thomas Heyward Academy and Patrick Henry Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels will be playing at home against the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Friday, Thomas Heyward Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Beaufort Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Thomas Heyward Academy in their matchups with Beaufort Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tony O'banner, who scored 22 points. Beau Pinckney was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 58-46 win over Bethesda Academy.
Patrick Henry Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hugh Fairey out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Forest Fairey, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Thomas Heyward Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Thomas Heyward Academy was dealt a bruising 84-43 loss at the hands of Patrick Henry Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Thomas Heyward Academy, Noah Altman (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
