Lanier is is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game last Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 16-0 walloping at the hands of MacArthur.
Meanwhile, Edison waltzed into their match on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They never let the Mustangs onto the board and left with an 18-0 win. Edison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Chipper Mayorga was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mayorga has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Mayorga was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Jacee Garza was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anarosario Gallegos, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and a double.
Lanier's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Edison, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.
