Football Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Chaparral Cowboys

The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars will square off against the Chaparral Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Pinecrest Academy Cadence and eight for Chaparral dating back to last season.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Sierra Vista on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cougars were beaten by the Mountain Lions 56-16. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Although Pinecrest Academy Cadence took the loss, they still got scores from Josiah Roberts and Jordan Sarmiento.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-8, which was the final score in Chaparral's tilt against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon on Friday. The Cowboys were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-7.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence came out on top in a nail-biter against Chaparral in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 14-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
