Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission West Triumphs

There's no place like home for Shawnee Mission West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 32-31 victory over the Lawrence Free State Firebirds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-33 back in December of 2024.

Shawnee Mission West's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Lawrence Free State, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Shawnee Mission West will challenge Olathe South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lawrence Free State, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Olathe Northwest. Lawrence Free State is facing Olathe Northwest at the right time seeing as Olathe Northwest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
