Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Cordova Lancers

The Kennedy Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Cordova Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kennedy has three straight victories, Cordova has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy duked it out withMcClatchy on Monday. Kennedy came out on top in a nail-biter against McClatchy, sneaking past 65-63.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Aharon Young and Kai Bradford. Young had a solid game and posted 12 points. Meanwhile, Bradford did his best for the losing side, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cordova opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-41 defeat to West Park. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1004th, while the Panthers are ranked 336th).

Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Cordova, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Kennedy strolled past Cordova when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a score of 66-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cordova's Isaiah Bolden, who went 12 of 28 on his way to 31 points.
