Spencer extends road winning streak to six

Recap: Spencer Greenwave vs. Northeast Raiders

The Spencer Greenwave entered their tilt with the Northeast Raiders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Spencer walked away with a 71-60 win over Northeast on Friday. Given Spencer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Northeast is ranked 507th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Key?shaun Sampton was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gary Gaither, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Spencer's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Northeast, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Spencer won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Harris County at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Harris County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to challenge Jordan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 14.
