Basketball Recap: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Boulder Panthers
Mountain Range lost against Boulder back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mountain Range Mustangs came up short against the Boulder Panthers, falling 73-48.
Mountain Range's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liliana Jaramillo, who posted nine points. Jaramillo continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Lucero, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 18 points and three steals.
Leading Boulder to victory were Megan Matthews and Lexi Oder. Matthews went 9-for-19 en route to 26 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Oder dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Matthews a new career-high in points. Sabrina Maiorca was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.
Mountain Range's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Boulder, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Mountain Range has already played their next matchup, a 70-53 victory against Prairie View on the 11th. As for Boulder, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-22 loss against Riverdale Ridge on the 13th.
