Baseball Recap: Caledonia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Louisville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caledonia). They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Louisville Wildcats on Friday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Caledonia got a great performance from Chandler Cobb as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Cobb a new career-high.

At the plate, Jackson Dawkins was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Caledonia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Dylan Dees also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Caledonia's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Louisville, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Caledonia will square off against Sparkman at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Louisville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Louisville Wildcats challenge Noxubee County Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. They have given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
