Basketball Recap: Manzano Comes Up Short

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 65-45 to the Eldorado Golden Eagles. The Monarchs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Eagles earlier this season, when they won 53-50.

When it comes to explaining why Manzano lost, don't look at Daira Solis. Despite the final result, she posted 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Solis has become a key player for Manzano: the team is 5-2 when she posts at least 15 points, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaria Gomez, who earned 15 points.

Manzano now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Eldorado, they pushed their record up to 10-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Manzano wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-31 loss against Santa Fe on the 11th. As for Eldorado, they have also already played their next matchup, a 56-41 defeat against La Cueva on the 10th.
