Baseball Game Preview: Pinewood Prep Panthers vs. Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats

The Pinewood Prep Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinewood Prep is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

While Pinewood Prep's win against Woodland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pinewood Prep had just enough and edged out Woodland 7-6. The seven-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Christopher Kabine looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Finley Taylor was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Nathan Good also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Laurence Manning Academy made easy work of Northwood Academy on Saturday and carried off a 16-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Swampcats in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Laurence Manning Academy pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pinewood Prep, their record now sits at 4-1.

Pinewood Prep beat Laurence Manning Academy 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinewood Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
