Basketball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Williams Bulldogs

The Providence Grove Patriots will face off against the Williams Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Providence Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Williams likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Providence Grove lost to Randleman on the road by a 79-61 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Providence Grove had strong showings from Andrew Thomas, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 25 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, and Will Dabbs, who posted 25 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games he's played.

Meanwhile, Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bartlett Yancey. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Providence Grove will have to contain Colby Elliot as he made an impact in Williams' last game. He had 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyrian Fuller, who scored seven points.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Providence Grove, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Providence Grove came up short against Williams when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 67-63. Can Providence Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
