Preview: Decatur Community Red Devils vs. Rock Hills Grizzlies
The Decatur Community Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Rock Hills Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Decatur Community is ranked 64th, while Rock Hills is ranked 76th).
Last Friday just wasn't the day for Decatur Community's offense. They were outmatched by Hill City on the road and fell 48-0. Decatur Community has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Rock Hills got themselves on the board against Washington County on Friday, but Washington County never followed suit. They breezed by the Tigers at home to the tune of 40-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Rock Hills' six-point performance the match before.
Rock Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper McDill out in front who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 129 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Sterling made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Hill City's win bumped their season record to 5-3 while Decatur Community's loss dropped theirs to 2-6.
Everything went Decatur Community's way against Rock Hills in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Decatur Community made off with a 48-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Decatur Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
