Softball Recap: Leonardtown's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Leonardtown had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Point Eagles an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Raiders have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Mackenzie Moore and Kendall Wathen did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Wathen went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tessa Gray, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Leonardtown pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for North Point, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coming up, Leonardtown will face off against Chopticon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Point, they will take on McDonough at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.69 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
