Baseball Game Preview: Blue Valley West Jaguars vs. Maize Eagles

The Blue Valley West Jaguars will take on the Maize Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Back in March, Blue Valley West earned a 6-3 win over Veritas Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Braden Johnson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cade Wysong was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Nash Kindler, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Maize had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jaguars, sneaking past 3-1.

The team relied heavily on Parker Meirowsky, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Blue Valley West pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Maize, their record now sits at 9-3.

Blue Valley West beat Maize 8-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
