Orleans and Loogootee are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will challenge the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Orleans has four straight victories, Loogootee has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Orleans is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let South Central get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Saturday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ella Owens made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Owens was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Abel, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Cambree Cline, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Orleans hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Central struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Loogootee came up short against Shakamak on Friday, falling 9-3.
Jocelynn Sims made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Orleans' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average this season. As for Loogootee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Loogootee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Orleans has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Loogootee, though, as they've been averaging only 2 strikeouts. Will Orleans keep running through batters, or will the Lions buck the trend?
Orleans took their win against Loogootee in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
