Softball Preview: St. John Fighting Herald vs. Harding Skippers
The St. John Fighting Herald will take on the Harding Skippers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. John will be strutting in after a victory while Harding will be coming in after a defeat.
St. John is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Grand Valley on Wednesday. The Fighting Herald came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-2.
Isabelle Holler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nadia Lagoa, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Carney, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Harding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Chalker, falling 17-1.
Harding saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beyla Sadler, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Harding's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for St. John, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
