Baseball Game Preview: Sonoma Academy Coyotes vs. Roseland Collegiate Prep Grizzlies

The Sonoma Academy Coyotes will face off against the Roseland Collegiate Prep Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sonoma Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Sonoma Academy took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Credo, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Coyotes skirted past the Gryphon 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Coyotes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Noah Proctor made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Mutz, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Victor Jennings was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Roseland Collegiate Prep's offense. They lost 11-0 to Calistoga on Friday. The Grizzlies' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Roseland Collegiate Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sonoma Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Sonoma Academy took their victory against Roseland Collegiate Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 26-2 score. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
