Shepard took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Crete-Monee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Astros came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors on Saturday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Astros have posted since April 28th.

The victory made it two in a row for Shepard and bumps their season record up to 13-16-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Crete-Monee, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-12.

Shepard and Crete-Monee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Astros (ranked 334th) will meet Andrew (ranked 25th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Crete-Monee will take on Munster at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (315 vs. 52).
