Basketball Game Preview: Braxton County Eagles vs. Clay County Panthers

The Braxton County Eagles will take on the Clay County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Braxton County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-53 victory over Webster County. The Eagles pushed the score to 57-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Highlanders cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Clay County was able to grind out a solid win over South Harrison on Saturday, taking the game 67-56.

Braxton County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Clay County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.
