Baseball Recap: University Trailblazers vs. Center Grove Trojans

University won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to the Center Grove Trojans.

Jimmy Caldwell and Jasper Owens stepped up to the plate in a big way. Caldwell scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Owens went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI.

On Center Grove's side, Conner VanderLuitgaren looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, AJ Beggs was incredible, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base. Gannon Grant was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

University's loss dropped their record down to 12-11-1. As for Center Grove, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will take on Franklin Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. University is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Center Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbus North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus North will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Center Grove surely won't give up without a fight.
