Basketball Game Preview: Kenwood Broncos vs. Morgan Park Mustangs

Kenwood is 8-0 against Morgan Park since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Kenwood Broncos face off against the Morgan Park Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Kenwood's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Morgan Park has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Kenwood is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Jones: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kenwood blew Jones out of the water with a 78-23 final score. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Icesis Thomas was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of London Walker George, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 16 points.

Kenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 26 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Morgan Park played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 80-27 loss at the hands of Phillips. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-15.

Kenwood's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Morgan Park, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Kenwood against Morgan Park when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 67-37 win. In that matchup, Kenwood amassed a halftime lead of 48-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
