Softball Recap: Castle Gets the Win

Castle's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Evansville North Huskies by a score of 8-5. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Castle got a great performance from Bailey Gravens as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Emma Bruggenschmidt and Aubrey Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Bruggenschmidt went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Baker got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. June Copeland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Castle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Castle's record is now 4-7. As for Evansville North, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Castle is taking a road trip to take on Daviess County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Evansville North, they will square off against Evansville Mater Dei at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
