Baseball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salina Central Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Friday.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Salina Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8.

Newton has already played their next match, a 12-1 win against Hesston on the 5th. As for Salina Central, they will challenge Andover at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
