Baseball Recap: Center Comes Up Short

Center's tournament run continued when they took on Pioneer on Monday. The Cougars fell 8-4 to the Patriots.

Center saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidon Howerton-Abernathy, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Logan Pawlak also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Center has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10-1 record this season. As for Pioneer, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Coming up, Center will square off against Rio Linda at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Pioneer, they have already played their next contest, an 8-5 victory against Casa Roble on the 30th.
