Baseball Recap: Hilbert Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hilbert barely beat Howards Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Brody Hein made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Spencer Karls, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Parker Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Hilbert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Hilbert's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-10 record. As for Howards Grove, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Hilbert will venture away from home to square off against Reedsville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Howards Grove, they will head out to face off against Oostburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
