Solly Bielsky and Keenan Winnerman secure win for Denver Jewish Day

Recap: Denver Jewish Day Tigers vs. Lyons Lions

The Denver Jewish Day Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Lyons 81-64. Given Denver Jewish Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Lyons is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Denver Jewish Day was led to victory by Solly Bielsky and Keenan Winnerman. Bielsky scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Winnerman scored 36 points along with five blocks and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Winnerman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lev Friedman, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Caleb Christiansen and Jake Lacrosse certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Christiansen scored 25 points along with six steals, while Lacrosse scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Lacrosse continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Payton Bolkovatz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.

Even though they lost, Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver Jewish Day only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Denver Jewish Day pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Lyons, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Denver Jewish Day won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Denver Waldorf at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Lyons won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union Colony Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Allowing an average of 56.9 points per game, Union Colony Prep has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
