Baseball Recap: Lemont Starts Season with Victory Against Sandburg

Lemont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Sandburg Eagles 10-4 on Saturday. The Lemont HS have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Donovan Moleski looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Zane Schneider was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Rocco Luciano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sandburg fell to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lemont will welcome Yorkville at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Sandburg, they will be playing at home against Richards at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
