Basketball Game Preview: Perquimans Pirates vs. Eno River Academy Bobcats

The Perquimans Pirates will face off against the Eno River Academy Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Perquimans' favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home while Eno River Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Perquimans proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 36) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Gates County 56-54. Perquimans' win was all the more impressive since the Red Barons were averaging only 29.75 points allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, Eno River Academy came up short against Roxboro Community last Monday and fell 45-32. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 518th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 187th).

Perquimans will need to focus on slowing down Vivienne Matthews, one of several Eno River Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points and five boards. Leiden Schofield was another key player, putting up six points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Eno River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Perquimans' victory bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Eno River Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
