Volleyball Recap: Saugus Takes a Loss

Saugus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Marblehead Magicians, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sachems of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-16, 25-13.

Leading Marblehead to victory were Eva Burke and Jane Rickards. Burke had three digs and three aces, while Rickards had two aces. Burke is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 24 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Saugus' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Marblehead, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Saugus has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Everett on the 17th. As for Marblehead, they will square off against Notre Dame Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
