Softball Recap: Payson Wins Going Away Against Hurricane

It was a proper cat-fight when Payson took on Hurricane on Saturday. The Payson Lions put the hurt on the Hurricane Tigers with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Lions have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Aydrie Christensen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Callahan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Anna Marvin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Payson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane struck out six times.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Hurricane, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Payson will face off against Spanish Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Spanish Fork has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Hurricane has already played their next contest (against Emery), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
