Volleyball Recap: St. Xavier Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

St. Xavier won the last time they faced Trinity and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Xavier Tigers won by a set and slipped past the Trinity Shamrocks 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Shamrocks since March 11, 2023.

St. Xavier was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10.

St. Xavier's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Walsh, who had 29 assists and eight digs. Walsh has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 16 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Louie Murr, who had 24 assists and four digs.

The victory (which was St. Xavier's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. As for Trinity, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.

Looking ahead, St. Xavier will venture away from home to square off against Eastern at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trinity, they will host North Oldham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
