Platte County hadn't done well against Kearney recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 8-2 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Platte County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Kearney, they moved to 19-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Platte County nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
