Recap: St. Augustine Catholic Wolves vs. Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils
The St. Augustine Catholic Wolves's game back in December of 2023 was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Santa Cruz Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Peter Dogbegah continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lance Marchessault, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Harris, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 24 rebounds. Harris is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Esequiel Perez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
St. Augustine Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
St. Augustine Catholic will look to defend their home court on Monday against Sequoia Pathway Academy at 7:00 p.m. Sequoia Pathway Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Tempe Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Tempe Prep is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
