Basketball Recap: Ashton Sosby Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Seneca

West-Oak posted their closest win since February 6th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Seneca Bobcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-34 two weeks ago.

West-Oak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Sosby, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. What's more, Sosby also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Kinady Marcengill, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points.

Seneca's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miyana Chamberlain, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 17 points and three steals. Chamberlain has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Weston, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for West-Oak and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Seneca, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

When West-Oak and Seneca next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. West-Oak will try to stop Greenville H's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Seneca will try to stop Westside's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
