Softball Game Preview: Brown County Eagles vs. Edgewood Mustangs

Brown County hasn't had much luck against Edgewood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Brown County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Austin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Austin by a score of 8-7. Brown County just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.

Maelyn Bowling made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, Edgewood came up short against Cascade on Friday and fell 5-2. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edgewood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was OLIVIA McPHERSON, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Edgewood's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Brown County, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brown County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
