Preview: Mission Eagles vs. San Benito Greyhounds
The Mission Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the San Benito Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 698th, while San Benito is ranked 299th).
Last Friday, Mission lost to Brackenridge on the road by a decisive 63-44 margin. Mission has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, San Benito had just enough and edged Rio Grande City out 31-28 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for San Benito.
San Benito's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelina Reyes, who scored 7 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayla Rodriguez, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Weslaco's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Mission's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Mission came up short against San Benito when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 40-28. Can Mission avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
