Softball Recap: Central Catholic Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Central Catholic had won six straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 23-5 to make it seven. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Patterson Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Stephanie Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central Catholic let Samantha Nichols and Ceriah Fitzhugh run wild. Nichols went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Fitzhugh went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Fitzhugh a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmarie Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .469 or higher in three consecutive matches.

As for Patterson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Central Catholic: they've now lost three in a row.

On Patterson's side, Grace Cruthis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jazmine Isom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As of now, neither Central Catholic nor Patterson have any future games scheduled.
