Baseball Recap: Beardstown Takes a Loss

Beardstown extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-13. They came up short against the Illini West Chargers, falling 15-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 14-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Maddox Medrano and Carter Ross stepped up to the plate in a big way. Medrano went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Ross got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Zach Meyer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Illini West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Illini West, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Illini West's side, Cash Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Wesley Robertson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Beardstown will host Macomb at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Illini West, they are taking a road trip to square off against Rushville-Industry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
