Softball Recap: Villa Joseph Marie Takes Down MAST Community Charter in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Villa Joseph Marie rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the MAST Community Charter Panthers, sneaking past 9-8. The Jems have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Faith Fox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Megan Cassidy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Anya Frabizzio was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Villa Joseph Marie's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for MAST Community Charter, their record now sits at 14-5.

As of now, neither Villa Joseph Marie nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
