Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Bryan

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bryan's offense. They lost 16-0 to the Lincoln High Links. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Lincoln High's part, they got a big performance out of Evie Becher, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances while logging 2 stolen bases, 3 runs, and 2 walks. The three runs were her most since the 1st, when she scored three vs. Burke. The team also got some help from Yanitza Lopez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances while posting 2 stolen bases, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs.

Bryan has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 17 matchups, dating back to last year. That leaves them at a 2-13 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Omaha Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.1% over those games). As for Lincoln High, the victory improved their record to 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bryan is set to take on their familiar foe Benson at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th. Meanwhile, Lincoln High will square off against their in-conference opponent Lincoln North Star at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
