Football Recap: San Leandro Pirates vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets
San Leandro was the 13-12 winner over Berkeley when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 21-18 on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
A big part of Berkeley's win came down to the chemistry between IDAN WADE-CURIEL and his top target DAILEN CLARK. WADE-CURIEL threw for 340 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt while CLARK picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. WADE-CURIEL's passing game has become a key predictor of Berkeley's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of WADE-CURIEL's aerial production (93 yards to be exact) also went to CALEB WRIGHT.
San Leandro's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Berkeley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
