Football Recap: San Leandro Comes Up Short

San Leandro was the 13-12 winner over Berkeley when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 21-18 on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

A big part of Berkeley's win came down to the chemistry between IDAN WADE-CURIEL and his top target DAILEN CLARK. WADE-CURIEL threw for 340 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt while CLARK picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. WADE-CURIEL's passing game has become a key predictor of Berkeley's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of WADE-CURIEL's aerial production (93 yards to be exact) also went to CALEB WRIGHT.

San Leandro's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Berkeley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Leandro will square off against rival Tennyson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Pirates 10.8, the Lancers 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Berkeley is set to challenge their familiar foe Bishop O'Dowd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
